Do anybody knows dimensions of halyard sheaves on the top of the Mast in O'Day32? I mean diameter and width.

It is good to see that you are still with us. No, I do not know the measurements of the mast head sheaves. That is not a question often asked.
If your mast is down, why not measure what you have? Or are there none?
The grove needs to match your line/halyard size. What size line have you decided on? Diameter has to allow for sheave and line to turn.
And considering your location, maybe you should switch to metric measurements. Or Imperial Russian measurements?

My boat is in Helsinki but I'm in the Moscow at the moment. Therefore I can't measure the sheaves now. I hoped that if I can get to know exact sizes, I can purchase new halyards prior to my trip to Helsinki. In addition I'm thinking about new synthetic halyards (old halyards are steel wire rope).

Good question, my main halyard is about 7/16 (I need to measure this to be sure) and I also have a another 3/16 wire rope as a spare working halyard (bosuns chair)
A couple of years ago I tried to replace the main halyard by using a paper clip between the halyards and I never could get it past the truck and whats on my list is to inspect those sheaves to see whats going on.

If I was going to convert the mast sheave over from wire/rope to a non stretch synthetic halyard, I would remove the mast head and take it with me so that I could get a sheave, and the proper diameter halyard for it. There's only two nuts that hold that mast head on after you disconnect whatever rigging or wire that is also connected to it. If the mast head is like mine, it has two bolts that go through the side of the mast and they are bent straight up and go through the mast head. The sheave pin might have been pressed in to hold your sheave, but you can substitute that with a stainless steel bolt and a lock nut. This is what I had to do to mine. I just replaced both of my halyards with 5/16" Sta set X and I also installed a new sheave block for my Jib halyard. My old halyards are still like new, but they were never the right size for my sheave block openings. I'm going to use my old halyard for Gennie sheets. Good luck!

Joe is often right about things O’Day. He has sources that are historical. However, my masthead is riveted to mast and changing sheaves would require major surgery.
For what it is worth.
You said in Russia they use metric. But maybe in Finland they use Old Norse measurements? Such as a vika, which is a sea-mile, answering to the land measurement of a rôst.

Hi all!
I was on my boat last week. I've removed a mast head and was very surprised when I found only two halliards which located completely outside of the mast! There is no even luffing cable for boom! Sheaves are very small and I'm not sure that I can use synthetic halliards

On my 26 the boom is adjusted by the topping lift which is attached to the top of mast. The bitter end goes to a cleat on the boom. Releasing the end from the cleat allows the sail to hold up the boom, thus adjusting the shape of the sail.

After I posted, I notice that I forgot to say line first goes thru turning block on end of mast then to cleat. That allows for adjusting leach for sail shape.

I guess a technical diagram would be easier to post.
I further guess that the topping lift could be further run to mast again and other blocks to lead back to cockpit so that you do not have to get on side deck to adjust? I might have to add organizer under mast next year to do that. Hummm...

Also my 1978 32 has a label down below in the salon on the mast that says Schafer Spars and I've read that other ODays about that age had the same

Hi RAD! I was in Helsinki last week and I've bought new plastic sheaves from "Selden". This sheaves enables to use halyards up to 12 mm.
