Methinks we tend to over complicate things
i would not hesitate to "trust my life" to my own workmanship on the rigging on my h23. reading all the specs, and practicing a little, i have fabricated various cables for my boat, including lifelines, with 3/16", nicopress, and copper sleeves, (not the standing rigging yet tho), the 3/16", 1X19, 316 ss nicopressed has, according to specs, a greater WLL and BL than the factory OEM 5/32" swedged rigging. some have termed the nicopress rigging as "Industrial Pretty". i ues double copper sleeves. (a single sleeve is rated at 80% WLL). BUT, by using only the highest quality equipment, 316 ss fittings, turnbuckles, cable, etc to start with, i really don't believe i can be cost competative with the $405.00 quote that i got from Seco So to replace all my 5/32" standing rigging with 316 ss, 3/16". although i wouldn't mind doing it, i'll probably send my rigging to them this winter and have a new set made after i deciede what i am going to do about roller furling...my $0.02 worthwilliam
