Anyone know what the name of the contraption on the rear spreader, where it splits, that when pull on rakes the mast backwards?

I think “split backstay tensioner” or “backstay car” is what you’re going for.

Maybe "Backstay adjuster." It's all the same really. Its tensioning will make more tension on the forestay and reduce sagging of the forestay and jib luff. It will improve ability to sail to weather. Or in some cases bend the boat or even cause the mast to fail. :yikes:
