Howdy, I am shopping for a new mainsail and the sail maker wants to know what the mast rake is on an O Day 22. I measured by hanging a weight from the halyard and got 6 inches from the mast at the gooseneck. Does anyone know what the specs are for an O Day 22?

Thanks

Alex

recommended mast rake

Although not absolutely sure, I think recommended starting position when tuning a rig is between 2 and 4 inches, then to take it sailing and have a helm that over the period of about 10 to 15 seconds rounds up gently. If it rounds up to fast, reduce the rake, if it has a balanced or lee helm, then add more rake. If your 22 has a shoal draft keel, you may want to add some time to the criteria for rounding up. These keels tend to track a bit better but will still round up if the helm is released.
