Mast rake and fore/aft trim

What is the proper mast rake for a Vega? Scaling from the Handbook I'm
guessing about 6-7 inches aft, but since I'm replacing standing rigging would
like to tailor the new stays to the proper rake. Also, in leveling the boat
(on the hard) and marking the waterline, I've found a stainless stud on the
stem but no corresponding reference mark at the stern. Any suggestions on
leveling? A four foot level on the berths or cockpit seats puts me stern
high, I think.

FYI, I'm rerigging with 3/16 type 316, Stalok fittings, and bronze Merriman
turnbuckles. Cracks in the old turnbuckles! I also beefed up the stemhead
fitting which worked out very well. Bill Bach #1071 Calimera,

Thanks for the information, Thomas Hamill. Where can I find a copy of the
Vega One Design Association Rules? Are they on the web somewhere?
