Mast Raising

John Sprague's article and drawings on mast raising/lowering are
very helpful. I was wondering if anyone had more specific
measurements, ie, length of A-frame poles, width at base, etc. Also
the specific size of the plate that the tabernacle attaches to.

I'm receiving delivery on a '72 Vega V 1553 in a few weeks and just
found out the marina where I plan to launch doesn't do masts. I'd
like to have the rig built a head of time so as not to hold up the
guy who's bringing it down.

Also, it's on a trailer--tongue extensions anyone?

Enjoy the discussion on the list.Victor

John Sprauge's article on mast raising and lowering was very
helpful. Does anyone have additional information; specifically
measurements of the various components?

Thanks,

Victor

Victor,

I haven't raised a mast but I did lower one. I didn't make a permanent setup but instead went with a "quickie", jury rigged, setup. See the photo in the files section if you haven't already looked. Also the discussion about mast lowering started in msg #2514, and #2610, #2623, and #2561. You can go directly to those messages from the yahoo web interface for the group messages. You may find something useful there. I would think my same setup could also raise the mast. The only problem, that I foresee, is controlling the mast bottom and getting it to set back in place on the mount.

Good Luck with the project,
Chris
