I was going to step the mast today so I could rig my jib to the furrler the boats still on the trailer and Im ready to put her in the slip and get her out of my driveway. But a problem occured My mast raising tube has bent and the fork compromised. It was straightened easily but the fork is in bad shape. Can I trim the end off and grind a fork in it? My dealer ordered me a new one but it will be 2 weeks. I beleieved I damaged it when I attempted to raise the mast and the tube was at a 90% not 10%. I have raised it many times at the proper angle and the tube does take quite a bit of stress until you get gravity on your side. Was thinking of manufacturing somthing stronger but I quess its better that the tube compromises rather than the bolt rope excrusion inside the mast ?

Raising system concerns.

I have written regarding my concerns about the lifting system and how mine (used '95 23.5) does not appear that it will function. Other owners and a dealer tell me they work just fine. However, the rod is slightly bent and the fork seems to have been damaged and repaired and the renforcing "sleeve" on the mast was replaced. I am going to try raising the mast again this morning, But I am not confident things will go well. Anyone interested in a 1995 23.5 with a 2003 Merc 6hp that has never been in water other than the dealer's test tank?
