stopping the pumping

I recently read a long article that explained about mast pumping and how to stop it. It(in short) said to take a halyard and wrap the mast from the deck. It explained that wind going around the mast creates 'VORCIES' on the back side which is the noise you hear. The article was long and dry and wtitten by a respected professor. It seemed logical and worth trying since its easy and costs nothing....good luck Gary

Baby Stay?

You could try a removable baby stay forward from the spreaders. This should put enough forward pressure to stop pumpin'

Wrapping The Mast Helps!

We've tried wrapping a halyard around the mast to stop mast pumping in high winds while docked. This seems to help but once the wind gets over 30-35 knots the pumping seems to resume. If there were a convenient way to wrap the halyard around the upper mast above the spreaders it would probably make a difference.
