Hi, I seem to be asking quite a few questions lately, this is the end of my first sailing season so I have never put a boat to bed for the winter before. I read the advice a few weeks back about putting the boat away and I tried to do everything that was mentioned. The problem is the hanging the mast from the ceiling of the garage part. I have the worlds smallest garage and it simply will not fit. According to my good friend pythagoras I should have 5 inches to spare going corner to corner. Somehow it doesn't work out that way when I get the thing over my head (also the door gets in the way). My wife says that hanging it from the livingroom ceiling is out of the question (she can be quite unreasonable sometimes) any other suggestions?? john

Try angling it

...so that it's up top at one corner but down 2 or 3 feet at the other. As long as it's suspended and nothing bangs into it you'll be fine.

Not much more to add

I hung mine last weekend and have a fair amount of room to spare, but you have to angle it in, get it over the garage door tracks, etc.
