mast solved??
thanks, us spars got back to me straight away. $1500 for the mast (yikes). Before I bite the bullet on that , anyone know anyone else with an H23 or 23.5 (or any other boat with the Z-190 mast profile that they are scrapping ??

When buying a used mast which is rarely found, you will need to inspect it closely first. Any major dings or too many holes, walk away. best to replace with a new mast and US Spars is priced moderately.

you might check to see what was on your boat originally. If you check the archives, you will discover that Hunter put three different brands of mast on the h23. I presume, but do not know, that they use the same fittings and rigging. $1500 is a bit more than I'm willing to bet on a presumption if I don't have to. As for the used mast, I strongly endorse Crazy Dave's warning. Not only is he a known expert, but it makes good sense from a purely practical point of view. Good luck and happy sailing.

thanks for your posts, I bought an old H23, still sailing but in poor condition. I've scrapped it for parts, namely the mast and bought new rigging from US Spars. All is well.
