I’m trying to keep weight aloft down. Does anyone know if there is a difference in the weight between the various 18” mounts? Scanstrut, Seaview and Edson seem to be the choices.

If you want to save weight

have you thought about a back stay mount with a gimbled antena mount your antena will remain level even as you heel? It's more expensive but does not add much to the weight aloft.

back stay mount

I am presently in the process of installing a radar with a back stay mount. It's gimballed, but without the hydraulic damping that other such mounts have. This has a bolt and a nylon washer and bushing. You tighten down the nut to get the same effect. It costed $500, whereas the others cost about double this amount. One warning: make sure to measure the angle of the stay and let the manufacturer know what it is; the mount as it was sent to me does not sit level and I have to shim up the radar dome to level it. Web site for this mount is attached.

I also made my own

From thick wall SS tubing. It is not self leveling(yet). The photos are from the installation on my previous boat(Pearson 28). I now have it on my Ericson 35. Cost about $125 and weighs less than 10 lbs. All the weight is from the radome. I have also changed the radar to a Garmin GMR18. Tim R.
