My H34 has the mast down at this time and I am doing some routine upkeep, my question is do the two bolts at the mast head hold the sheave assy in? If I remove these bolts wil the entire assy lift out? I am running wire for a wind xducer and it would make my life easier, but dont want to remove bolts if they do something else.

No They Don't

Dave, if you have the Kenyon mast like I do on my '83 H34, the two bolts do not hold the sheaves on. The sheaves are pinned independently/internally. It's a good thing to pull the masthead off to inspect and lube everything. If you need parts go to the link below.

If you remove

the two bolts the whole masthead assembly will lift out. If you are trying to feed cable down the internal channel be sure and use a cable snake and be careful on the steaming/deck light cablewhich is half down the mast.

Replace the elc. wire also

Might I suggest you replace thje wiring going to your anchor, steaming and deck lights while you are at it. You will probably find that they are all in one multi conductor cable that sells at local stores for about $1.00 per yard. These wires rub against the inside of your mast which causes the insulation to wear through causing shorts and all kinds of other odd events.
