Hello Sailors,

I am planning to replace my mast lights this spring with new ultra bright LED lights. I found that the lights I had were not very bright, consumed too much power or in some cases no longer worked. I am looking for a mast head light a bow light and a spreader light. Does anyone have any recommendations or reviews of products that are on the market?

I really like Bibi lights from Fiji.
Cheap work well and the newspaper packing from Fiji is worth the price of the lights.

I replaced my anchor light with LED. I think the yard used Aquasignal - but I never saw it while the mast was down and its damn hard to see with it up. I was happy with the brightness and presumed lower energy consumption. However, I would need to install my battery monitor to confirm the latter.
I don't sail at night enough -'though my dermatologist would like me to - to bother with the expense of the running lights.
Others on the forum have advised strongly, in the past, only to use GC approved lights for legal reasons and that is largely why I had the yard pick an approved light.

A purpose built marine LED light fixture seems to cost a king's ransom. I just went to SuperbrightLED and get the bulbs. I had all my lights replace with their product. 5 years now, no failure.

The cool white is brighter, the warm white feels more like convention bulb. I like warm white better.

I have no affiliation with them.

I`ve been trying too locate an LED steaming light (Forward facing only) as a a drop in to replace an old round Perko on my mast. Even went to Phil on this site, he struck out . If anyone has a source, please tell, thanks David

Dava, I was able to replace my festoon bulbs in smaller Perko fixtures with options from Dr. LED and from cruisingsolutions.com.

The short festoons for stern light and steaming light were warm whites from Dr. LED sourced at defender.com, and the bigger festoon for the bi-color bow light were warm whites from Cruising Solutions. Also got a non-indexed bayonet red LED from Dr. LED for the interior dome light. I have other AA battery powered push lights for brighter light in the cabin, but I like the cozy glow of the red LEDs...

Now using a much smaller and lighter U1 tractor battery which I can take home every few weeks for charging.

Can't help with a source, but at least the masthead (steaming) light is the one light that's on only when the engine is running, so power use there wouldn't be much of a concern (within reason), unlike the side and stern lights, and anchor light.
