Will be trouble shooting mast lights not working, steaming and anchor lights, on my recent '93 Hunter 27 acquisition.
I'm looking at beginning with switch, fuse, wring integrity, masthead couplers, and then bulbs.
A boat mechanic will be helping although he's not really too experienced with sailboats. Sailboat repair services are rare in KY. He'll have the necessary electrical meters though.
Should I go in reverse order? What is the most likely component to address first?
I've got a Bosun's Chair on order with delivery in a few days so go "topside".
Has anyone had this kind of issue with mast lights? It seems odd to have two out. I have a wiring schematic for an '06 which I hope is fairly representative of Hunter electrical wiring.
Will tackle this when I return from sunny Northern California after spring break. Any suggestions?
Trying to keep and even keel!
Smooth sailing to all.

Dave: I have wiring diagrams for my '90 model that you are welcome to use. I have the same light problems on my boat that I will have to address once my broken ankle heals.

Thanks, Steve. I've got a Bosun's Chair on order. I'd be glad to go up both masts if we can enlist another set of strong arms to belay the line.
Take care of that ankle. We have plenty of time.

my 1990 has never had problems with the lights up the mast, but I have had some issues with the deck connector. Take teh connector apart and clean the contacts, ensure the wire isn't corroded. Chances are that's all you need. Hunter did not use tinned marine wire on our boats, the plain copper wire is susceptible at the connector to corosion if you don't properly protect it.

check out my blog, I've done a lot of electricial upgrades to mine...
