As Forespar's marine lighting products need to comply with the COLREGS, then perhaps their mistake over what to call this ML-2 light tells us something about them???

However their representative on UTube does describe the ML-2 as a MAST/Deck light.

The Colregs themselves are confusing if you don't read the definitions.

For example Colregs doesn't include any light called an "anchor light".

As long as the upper part meets the distance and angle requirements - 2 miles and 225 degrees - it is just the description that is possibly a bit confusing.
