Note sure I posted this question properly so trying again. the wiring the runs from accessory panel thru deck to mast is frayed and to short to connect to mast plug connection. How does this wiring run there and how do I replace the wiring, any thoughts would be great. thanks

From inside the cabin - where wire leads to the deck top, the wire follows the contour of the cabin wall down behind the head then under the settee and back to the panel. Removal and replacement should be easy.
If the wire is bad all the way from the load center and you can't remove it, then what you can do is run a duplex or tri-plex cable depending on whether you have a steaming light and a mast head anchor light. I wound up leaving the old wires where they are, under the liner, and I ran a tri-plex from the load center to the mast along an inconspicuous route under the Port bolster and behind and up along the top of the main bulkhead to the mast tabernacle area. If you can pull the old stuff out and run the new wire in you're lucky. I couldn't do it. I just recently removed the two dome lights in my cabin. I've never used them and I think they looked hideous. I bought a few small round LED battery operated lights to put in their place. My problem is; I cut the two wires from each light, taped them, and can't stick them back under the head liner. I don't want to cut them too short just in case I ever want to install 12 Volt LED lights some day, or the next guy who buys my boat wants to do the same. I'm sure that I'll come up with an idea on how to hide these wires. At any rate, you can run your wires and pick a route where they can be hidden, like the upper inside of the settees and up along the back side of the main bulkhead. If you have a steaming light, you'll need an extra hot leg for it, which should come off your running lights breaker, and also a common ground to both mast lights. Otherwise, if you only have a mast head light, you on need a marine duplex cable of your anchor light breaker.
I just got a 1973 Oday 22 and am also redoing the wiring to the mast light which had no wires going to it. What is the difference between the steaming light and the mast head light as far as how high up the mast they go. The existing light was 3/4 of the way up the mast mounted on a curved wooden block.
