Recently purchased a 1984 Hunter 25.5 and am replacing the halyards this weekend. While the mast is down I want to replace the lightbulb on the mast that is about half way up facing forward. There is power to the wires going up the mast and a continuity check indicates a break in the circuit..... hopefully the bulb! I cannot find any information relative to what that replacement bulb will be. I called Hunter but they could not help me. I would appreciate any help.

I'd like that information too.

I thought my steaming light was out too, but it turned out to be a bad connector. I would really like this information, though, if no one answers you here.

Mine is out too. Sometimes it on and other times it's off. I need to check the unit out. Sorry no info. Great boat , I have had mine for about 5 months with 3 months worth of work. Just now getting to enjoy the boat.

Running, Steaming., Anchor, and ovhd 12v lamps

I believe most of these lamps to have been supplied by the OEMs that supplied the fixtures to Hunter. Best bet is to take inventory of wattage. v = 12v DC, and type of base, ie. bayonet, dbl. ended, etc.. take old lamps to a decent chandlery and they should be able to provide replacements. Good Luck!

easy

if the light is flickering, then it's a connector problem thats easily fixed with some cleaning and the preventive maintenance would be to keep the moisture out of the fixture, out of the connector to the mast and by using liquid tape on the crimp connectors found in back of the assembly by removing it and pulling it out gently. The forward facing light is called the 'steaming light', generally used at night while under power, or to simply light up your sails a little bit to let power boaters and others, without doubt, know your under sail. Because hunter uses so many suppliers, it's hard for anyone to tell you what bulb to get exactly. So, just take the old bulb in and match it or if the bulb is missing, take the entire assembly in and match a fit. (I don't think any boat in the past has ever used a 6volt system or light, but this easy to figure out by reading the voltage on your battery) But I would for one when replacing the bulb, would keep in mind that higher the wattage is, the quicker your battery will run low, will shine further but could also create to much heat inside the sealed casing lessening the bulbs life. So try and get the proper replacement and if thats not easily obtainable, then go with the average wattage that the sales people usually sell for that size boat (heck they probably already know).

Steaming Light Replacement Identified

I took 3 possible types of replacement bulbs to the boat this weekend....(of course none of them matched the one needed). I lucked out and the small marina store had the bulbs! On this 1984 Hunter 25.5 it is an ANCOR Minilamp 57. 12V, .24 amps, 3.4 watts. The ANCOR part number is 520057. New halyards, wind vane, and steaming light projects went well....
