I had this problem this last winter. I found the problem was at the three pronged plug near the bottom of the mast. I took it completely apart and found that the wires had come loose. I used electrical tape and resecured them, hopefully the fix will last for a while.
Best to use a DC voltmeter to locate exact source of problem. I wound up replacing the deck to mast connector plus all cable in the mast. As long as I had the mast down last winter, it was a good opportunity to spend another $50 for cable, connector and bulb.
My mast lights also don't work. I think that the deck mount connector prongs and receptacles have too much tarnish on them, preventing the flow of electricity. Question is, how do you clean the receptacle holes??? The are so small.
The connector between the mast and the deck was the culprit. I had to clean mine every other month. I used a small srew driver and just scaped the inside of the holes for the prongs I just gragged my pocket knife along them. I finally ended up replacing the connector and have not had a problem since.
I didn't even have to address the receptacle, just the prongs and it has worked fine all season.I did have to sand them a second time about a week after the first treatment. They were still working last night.
I had the same problem with my lights. To clean out the holes on the three prong plug I used a small(3/16 dia.) file that comes to a point. These can be found at K-Marts, hobby shops, etc. and they are cheap.
