Thanks for those who helped me with this. I took the chrome deck plate and removed the inside connector. I also removed the connector from the boot. I attached flat terninal connectors with plastic shields to the wires coming out of the deck and also to the other wires. I sealed the inside of the deck plate with silicone sealant. I placed the rubber boot on the deck plate. I placed one of the deck plate screws through the rubber fin on the boot. I also sealed the boot down with silicone. The final product looks original but the whole inside is hollowed out. Works great and still allows me to disconnect the wires if the mast needs to come down.
