I went to the boat this weekend to start the commissioning process and found that water had leaked down the mast into the cabin and accumulated on the table. I had previously had an inspection plate installed at the base of the mast. Has anyone have experience with this type of problem? I was thinking about spraying some type of sealant through the inspection plate only the bottom of the mast step plate (deck mounted mast) to seal it from the top. Any recommendations of the type of sealant to use or the process to get it accomplished would be appreciated.

Mast Leak

Hi Mickey, I had a similar problem with my 37. After replacing my antenna cable, I had water entering the hole where all the mast wiring enters the deck. From the access plate around the mast compression post, I shot sealant up into the hole where the cables enter. I used a 4" piece of tubing attached to the sealant tube to get up to deck level with the sealant. I haven't had a problem since. Good Luck, Bob
