Mast Leak

All of a sudden we have a mast leak. Water is dripping into the cabin from under the mast. The water could be coming from a through deck coax cable that might have sprung a leak. Does anyone know what the black plastic piece running up the front of the mast? Is this a cableway channel? There is an opening in mine about 15 ft up. Could this be the source of the leak? Thanks Jim, DownTime

the mast is deck stepped with a compression post in the cabin. There is one hole under the mast base which masthead wires and VHF coax pass through. I suspect this is where your leak is coming from. The only way I know how to view and correct is to unstep the mast and closely inspect/repair. Jim, you might look for another water entry source like the overhead translucent light panel in the deck over the main cabin. Good luck. Let us know what you find/fix.

I talked to Hunter. They said it could very well be the plastic molding going up the front of the mast. I am going to patch the break point and I'll let you know if it works.
