I guess I was too long from the boat but yesterday I noticed damage on the forward wooden floor on my Catalina 270. I unscrewed it only to find that it had badly delaminated from water damage. In investigating the source, it appears to be coming from water that gets in the mast (I spayed water in the hole at the front base of the mast and, after a bunch of "stuff" came out, water went down the post and came out the bottom where the post meets a square plate that is bolted dowm. I am not familiar with how the mast is constructed so it is unclear to me how I can stop water from getting down inside the mast/pole. Also, anyone have any suggestions on methods of "relaminating" the wood and to treat the areas that made it thru to the top surface where there are some water stains/mildw? Any help appreciated - The threads in the archive on what appear to be related subjects didn't seem to match or make since to me. Again, my thanks!!
