I have a 22 hunter and the masthead light needs to be changed. The boat stays in the water behind my house.
My question is in the mast strong enough for me to go up the mast in a bosun,s chair to repalce it. I weight 230 lbs.

Thanks

Scott, the mast is definitely strong enough but you may end up in the water when the boat heels over and lays sideways !! It would be better to find someone in the 110 pound range to go up (while you stay below for ballast), or better yet, lower the mast to work the top.. The mast step is designed to hinge.. so it is fairly easy to slack the shrouds and stays and lower it to do work. Good Luck with it !

Scott,

If you haven't thought of this already, got with an LED masthead light. More expensive, but you'll never have to go up the mast again. I plan on replacing the light on my H260 with an LED once I get it permanently in a berth.

Scott, if there is a bridge nearby with little traffic, pull up near it and have away at it!
