I have had my 7.3 for about 2 years and need to replace the halyards. I already messed up this process a bit by not attaching the new mainsail halyard to the old adequately. Of course it came apart and the new one did not make it through the mast.
More on that later. The real issue for this post is how the pulleys are arranged at the mast head. The Jib halyard come through the mast and out over a pulley just above the forward stay. The Spinnaker halyard runs up the front of the mast to a pulley attached just forward of the Jib halyard. It appears to me that these halyards are always in contact with one another. and if I run the halyards to the all the way forward and secure to the life line stanchion or toe rail as I normally do when the sail is removed they also contact the forestay at the mast head. Could this be the original arrangement or over the years did someone modify the pulley arrangement on my mast head. I am going up the mast this weekend to try to re-threat the jib halyard and will take some pictures then but it would be nice to have an idea before I get up there so I can possibly fix it in the same trip.
