does anyone have a photo of the masthead fitting on a Catalina 310.
I would like to fit a code zero and find that the spinnaker bail does not extend far enough forward to clear the headsail furler. The code zero will fly from a facnor furler as well .bottom end attached to anchor roller extension, which has been beefed up with a bobstay.
I would like to manufacture a fitting that can be attached to the top of the mast while it is still standing in the boat.
I have fitted a hoyt jib boom which works a treat and is great in winds over 10 knots but need to get the boat mobile with a bit more sail area in very light winds.
Even with the normal no1 headsail i find the boat sluggish in light airs, and always resort to the motor .
Cheers from down under

PaulJ did something similar

Check the archives here. He posted pictures of his nephew up there adding the fitting on the masthead.

Re: masthead

Thankyou for your comments. Looks like Paul J came up with the goods again,Thank you Paul J. Looks like you could unscrew 4 screws from the spinnaker bale and make a new fitting using those same holes.
I will be on the boat tomorrow and will get a few photos of the Hoyt Jib Boom.
It is not a simple installation, the anchor hatch presented a few problems, but having said that I fitted it myself so not so bad ,just took a lot of pondering.
But its magic now ,in 15knots of breeze I can pull the headsail in without the need for winches,it poles itself out on a run,and gybes itself.
The boat points higher as well, and even with the reduced sail area is probably quicker reaching, because the leech of the headsail is controlled.
Cheers Curlew
