I have a 1988 H23. I talked with Julian at US Spars. He said the mast is a Z190 (Larger at the base and tapers at the top) Talked with Rig-Rite. Does anyone have a part # for the casting that fits? The lines come from the bottom of the mast up to cleats. They have 4 choices. I want to make sure I have the right one. Thanks Lee (Merri-Lee)

Mast Base Drawing

Lee, Back in May when I talked with them, they asked for a drawing of the base with the positions of the flanges(?) and where the wheels were for the halyards. And measurements. Then fax it to them. They said they would be able to match the base with a part number. There are four part numbers, but they don't have pictures for them on their web site. We decided to wait and see what developed with our "crack". (So far nothing is happening.) We will probably do something this fall as far as repair/replacment. Bill H23 - "Joint Venture"

Re: Curious

According to Julian, there were several mast bases and mast foot's(?) used on these masts over the years. The ones on the H23's, at least the 1988's anyway, have not been made for a while and there are none available in the US. He refered me to Rig-Rite, also, back in May. They have a number of bases and feet on their web site. Us-Spars have several, also. None match what Lee and I have. For some reason, even though US-Spars is the importer, they cannot get the base. Rig-Rite a Z-Spar "dealer", can, once it is identified. It also costs $235. There were four different bases with the internal halyard sheeves. The differences are the angles of the casting where the sheeves are pinned in. Attached is a photo is of the starboard side where the halyards come out. I have enlarged it and it is a little grainy, but . . . This is what we have on our 23's. Bill Bowman

Since the casting broke at the pin, Why can't I fasten a piece of aluminum angle iron on each side the the pin and drill new a new hole in the angle iron for the pin?

Replaced My Mast Foot this Spring

I have an '87 H23 that I replaced the casting that fits to the bottom of the mast in the Spring. I spoke with Diana at US Spars in Florida she was a great deal of help and had a lot of patience. It seems that on one side of the casting or the other is a part number. We went back and forth with 2 parts and on the third try I received the one that actually fit the base. Hope this helps.

the part number is 3230

In the fall of 2001, I purchased a USED foot from Julian. It was for my '88 23 (the foot with the sheaves for the halyards). Below are the description and part number that Julian gave me then: "Z190 mast foot with pin and vang attachment #3230" So I guess the answer to your question is #3230.
