I recently went "turtle" in my 15, very embarrassing and wet:cry:. I have purchased a Mama Bot mast float (from Hobie) and tried to fit to my 15 this weekend. There does not appear to be very much metal in the mast head (main halyard pulley area) to drill and tap to hold float bracket on. Has anyone done this successfully?

Thx
Neil

You can also get foam flotation for heads of mainsails that are much easier to install and then you don't have this big ass thing on the top of your tiny boat. Or, try filling your mast up with foam (closed cell).

My H15 came with the Hobie mast float but I sold it to a Hobie owner as I wanted to mount a Windex at the masthead and I decided to 'noodle' the mast and boom. Here is the link to another H146/15 owners instruction on how to do it:

I can attest (unfortunately-lol) that the noodle method works a treat.
Remember to also seal all the mast hardware fittings.

I thought you could return anything, anytime in the USA? I sold mine on eBay. Also suggest that you put up a 'for sale' notice at any local sailing clubs that have a fleet of Cats. That float is good for 14-16 foot cats.
