I am in the process of rewiring and installing a new Aqua Signal series 25 mast/deck light combo. (Page 702 in West Marine) and the new light has only 1 wire out the back? Where is the ground? The old light on the mast had two wires connected. I can't imagine where this thing grounds as no metal on the light touches the mast. (Light is completely incased in plastic) I hope someone can help me with this as I do not want to get it all back together and the mast back up and no light! How do I wire this? Thanks in advance. Matt

Should have two wires

I agree with you. A light should have two wires, hot and ground. I would call West Marine. You may have a bad light. By the way, check your new light after installation using the wires at the bottom of the mast before you restep the mast.

It has a ground lug

I installed one last summer. Look and find a slot which has a screw on top which tightens down on the ground wire once stripped. Just terminate your ground wire to this lug and your good to go. If you need to continue the ground wire to another device, just terminate another wire there keep going. Good luck...Gary

Mast/Deck light wiring

Matt, you will acutally need to run three wires to this unit unless you want the decklight on when you are under power at night and showing your "steaming" light. One wire will be the ground and the other two are both "hot", one for the deck light and one for the "steaming" light--each with its own switch on the DC panel. I have done it with two wires, diodes, and a DPDT switch, but don't have the room here to explain it. If you have worked with scale model trains you'll have the skill set to do it this way. Dan has it exactly right. One ground wire and one power source for each light, one for mast and one for deck light.
