I wish i had a picture
ok. First note is that i have a railing on my stern. My crutch is 2 2x4's in an X, with the boat ends sitting on the cockpit seats. I cut the coners to fit snugly in the corner between the cockpit seat and the coaming. At the top of the X, is a big bolt with a rubber bow roller on it. This lets me roll the mast back and forth, but holds it side-to-side. when the mast is down on the boat, i roll it forward until the gooseneck is on top of the bow railing, this does a great job of keeping it from going forward-back. I lash it to the bow roller at the back, tie it to the bow cleat up front, and i put a short bucket over the mast step and tie a rachet strap over it
