I would like to clean the mast and spreaders. I am wondering if anyone has any favorite products for cleaning the aluminum. Also, should the mast/spreaders be waxed or protected with something? Thanks.

Clean & Wax

My personal preference is to use a cleaner/wax, like Seapower or my new favorite, 3M Cleaner Wax. I assume you are talking about anodized aluminum. I do this once or twice a year.

Lube the in the mast too

Jim: While you are working on the mast, you should lube the slot with silicon or teflon lube too. (This is, of course, if your mainsail has slugs on it, and not just a rope). I always turn my mast over (with the slot upward), and spray the lubricant in, then take a cotton ball with a thin wire wrapped around it and go up and down the slot a time or two. I guess that you can tell that I really like the main to drop when we release the halyard, but I think of it a safety thing. Once when we chartered a 30 footer the main stuck up, and it made a bad impression on me. Aldo
