Does anyone know what mast this might have been from? Thanks in advance for your help. Just so you know, in Ventura, Ca. Winds are about 15 knts, air temp about 65-70degrees and we are going out on Friday. Go here for some pictures from our most recent outing the day after thanksgivinghttp://members.dslextreme.com/users/bfarrell/website/DCP_4276.JPG
It's the same as mine and I tried unsucessfully to locate one almost six years ago after I broke off the "eyes" for the mast raising hinge pin. When I contacted US Spars I was told that these bases were no longer in production. However, who knows...some enterprising soul may be manufacturing them somewhere.Just out of curiosity, why do you need one? The one in the picture looks fine to me. Mine is in worse shape but it supports the mast just fine once the shrouds and forestay are tensioned. I just have to be careful when I first start raising to make sure the mast base doesn't slip forward off the step and launch the mast off the bow like a cruise missile.PeterH23 "Raven"
This is not a picture of my mast. It is a picture out of the archives. I have to replace my halyards and want to run them to the pit. So I am doing as much research as I can to find the best way. Thanks for your reply, Brian
The pictured Mast Base is not what was on my H23 1990 Model. When I broke mine I called Hunter Marine and they had them in stock. I purchased one to replace the broken one and an extra to break later. Sold the H23 (and the extra bases) when I moved up to H31_83-87.
and my base is just like that. I also broke the "eyes" for the mast raising pin (seems to be a weak point) and had a welder friend of mine repair and reinforce them, works great. My line are all lead to the cockpit and having them exit at the mast base made it fairly simple, however I doubt if I would change my mast base just for that purpose. Just use stand up blocks at the base and you'll get the same result. Honestly I'm not a real fan of the alluminum alloy base on my mast.Fair WindsDaveh23 "Wind Dreamer"
