mast base sheaves

The mast base on my boat is different than shown in the Hunter manual. So the mast base details of the sheave locations etc are not much use. Actually the whole mast, spreaders, etc. is different. The spreader bases are welded to the mast and the spreaders fit over them. I think it is a Sparcraft product.

I'm wondering if anyone has the same set up, and if they have a photo of how all the lines are supposed to route at the mast base.

Also, if anyone has the rigging instructions for this particular mast brand/ type. It seems Hunter must have changed the rigging and not updated the manual.

Hello Sailfree,
That appears to be exact same setup as my 1998 376. I do not run a spinnaker so I've stopped that on the mast. I also do not run my topping lift through to the cockpit either. I'll look at my manual and actual setup when I'm onboard this weekend and see how it differs.

Greg,

Thanks for the reply. Our boat is also a 1998 model... probably should have mentioned that earlier. I'm glad to hear it's not the only one one with this mast setup.

I see... by not running the topping lift and spinnaker halyard aft you probably have only 3 lines per side (run aft) so the forward block at the mast step is not used. The forward block is the one one causing most problems in my case.

On the starboard side, I made up an offset bracket to place the main halyard block (most forward position) away from the mast, so the halyard run aft will clear the others. It works ok, but not the most elegant bracket. Haven't reworked the port side (spinnaker halyard) yet.

If I come up with a better bracket idea, I'll post a photo in case anyone else is having the same problem. In the meantime, if anyone has a photo or part number of something available to solve the problem, please add to the forum.
