Mast Base Organizer - Question for Appleman

What brand organizer did you use under mast. I am thinking of adding one while I have mast down.

Also, your water storage tank and Keith's appear to be forward. Mine is under the aft most hatch. That is why I can see forward and Keith cannot.

It was interesting that you had your steps out. I have thought of doing that because I want to get under that floor there to put an epoxy coat to seal the bilge in that area.

Did you replace the rub rail? I am having a small presistant leak on forward port side. I am thinking that I have to reseal the rub rail. In that case, I would replace and reseal.

All my exterior teak was damaged. I do not have a workshop to mill wood and because to the expense of teak did not want to risk damaging it so I used HDPE. I have all white exterior trim now.

In the process of replacing/repairing the grab rail on the cabin top, I could not quickly locate the caps that covered the holes inside the cabin so I added an interior grab rail. For sailing LIS you might consider the idea of having something to grab onto in chop or wakes.

Also I am short one of the 4" covers that hide the bolts for my life lines. Know where to get them? Rudy does not have them.

I plan on doing this as soon as the tarp comes off. I also have a leak on the port side, and interesting enough, not on the trailer, but only on the water. The only thing I haven't resealed is the rub rail.

That is a great idea. I saw it on one of your posts a while ago. I made new rails for mine two years ago and to add rails on the inside I would have to pull the plugs in the rails to hold the bolt to put a coupler to hole the inside rails. Not quite ready to do that right now.

Have no idea. they look like O'Day probably made sheets to cut them out of. Other than finding a boat that is being scraped to cut them out, I don't know.

Ed, As far as finding a scrap boat for the four inch covers, hang around, i may know where to find a scrap boat for you! ha

I did this in the last few months. Once you get going, it is really easy. I had an after market rubrail on my boat from the PO. I am replacing it with one from Rudy.

Expect a LOT of screws, I mean a LOT!!! Expect some serious grime under the rub rail.

Sand the area well and clean out the holes well.

I left a few screws in. I was worried I would get some bad weather and I got cold and wet for about a month. I was paranoid that with them all out that the wind could catch the top and slightly shift it from the hull. Probably just over carefulness.

Caulk the holes, I used 3M 4000uv. One tube filled all the holes.

I am about to paint my boat and then will install the new rubrail.
