Mast attachment for gin pole

I just bought an O222 with a roller-furling jib. I want to make a mast raising gin-pole or A-frame, but would like ideas for the mast attachment for the fixed line. Because of the RF, I don't have access to the jib halyard. I am thinking a bale would be strong or is a padeye enough?

I've got just the thing for you depending on what type of roller furler you have on your OD 222. Do you have the Schaeffer Roller Furler that came with this boat, or do you have a furler with a long Vinyl luff that fits over your fore stay like a CDI Furler? Regardless of whether you plan to use an A frame, Gin Pole, or raise it by hand, you're going to need some kind of a mast holding device or mast crutch mounted on the stern somewhere to support the mast so that you can pin the Tabernacle. I would even put a roller in it.
