Hey all, I have a brownish stain on my hull by the waterline I heard of a Mary Kate product that will maybe remove it, anybody know the name and where to purchase. Thanks, Red

Never heard of the cleaner. . .
one of the old guys at my yard who does most of the polishing work told me to use Muriatic Acid on what he said were Tanic Acid stains. . .worked wonders!! all the brown stains around my hull are gone, and the gelcoat underneath was bright white!

I think that's Mary KAY.
FSR, On & Off, and some say ketchup, work really well. We get that brown stain on our bow. After removing with FSR I have to re-wax the bows.

Muriatic acid will do the job ... plus take the 'hide off you' if you spill some on you.
ANY product containing oxalic acid will do the same job in removing iron stains and 'tanins' - cheaper and faster: FSR, On&Off, etc. etc. Cleansers containing oxalic ... or go to a hardware or paint store and buy (crystals of) oxalic acid ("wood bleach') and mix up your own and at the least cost.

The brown rust and mineral like stains are essentially algae Any acid based toilet bowl cleaner will do the job. Remember to check the label for acid content. A long handled brush and a bucket of water makes it easier also.
For those rubber dock marks... anything petroleum or carbon like... use acetone. Dab a little on a rag.. it will immedieately come off... rinse well afterwords.

Bartenders Friend, sold in most supermarkets for about $2/can contains Oxalic Acid. I used it on our freeboard this year and it worked fine for most of the discoloration. I used a little On-Off (muriatic acid) for the tougher stains on the stern.
On-Off (muriatic acid) will eat your bottom paint as well as your skin. Bartenders Friend, not so much.

A friend of mine used On and Off Oven cleaner to remove lettering off the back of his boat. I wonder how that would do to remove stains in the Gel coat.
