Martec folding prop on Hunter 30

Does anyone have any experience with a Martec folding prop on a late 1970's vintage Hunter 30? If so, what size? How much power loss in reverse? ...in forward? Did you have to shorten the propeller shaft? I'm considering getting one, and hoped to get feedback before making a purchase.

Suggest you read the Practical Sailer

article dated January 1, 1995. The article reports on test data taken by M.I.T. on several propellers, including the one you are interested in. The test was run on a propeller size for a typical 30 foot sailboat. You may find it interesting or you may find it totally confusing! Hopefully you should get a response from someone that has one a a boat identical to yours.

Dear Mike: Our records show a 14 X 8 1" shaft for propellers attached to a 1GM Yanmar. A 14 x 12 1" shaft was used on the 2GM Yanmar. If you need any help please let us know. Sincerely, Kevin L. Woody
