Where can I get one...?

I looked at store here, west marine, and e-bay no go...

Can I just print a paper copy and laminate?

And I don't have an inboard, (just outboard) so I assume I do not need the oily polution placard...?

I'm just over 26'

Your local CG Auxiliary may provide them free during safety inspections.
I've heard that, was thinking maybe I should have one "before" the inspection....

West marine has them in the stores. Free ones. Also ones you can pay for. They don't sell many of those. I can send some with that GPS. I have several here...

Need the no oil discharge if LOA is 26 or over. Like you.

Just went through this with a buddy's boat.........even if you have an outboard.......... if there is a "machinery compartment" (even if it doesn't have an engine in it) you need the oil placard. Better safe than sorry I always say. Just my two cents.

Nope...the Coast Guard doesn't approve toilets, only treatment devices and TECHNICALLY also holding tanks...but any container that receives and retains, but does not discharge sewage, is automatically considered CG certified as a Type III (holding tank)...so in actual practice the CG only concerns itself with treatment devices, They don't care if your 'toilet' is a trash can with a baggie in it...they're only concerned with what you do with the contents of the baggie.

Not quite true either...holding tank discharge thru-hulls that are above the waterline very rarely have seacocks or even y-valves...just tee or wye fittings and open thru-hulls.

The CG Aux member who wrote that isn't the first one to get it wrong in a flyer...it happens quite a bit, actually. It only matters if an Aux inspector thinks the boat isn't in compliance...but that's not a disaster either, 'cuz AUX inspections are COURTESY inspections only...their purpose is to make sure the boat can pass a real CG inspection and give the owner the opportunity to correct anything that wouldn't.

That's what I was thinking too... I have a big compartment in the cabin where a motor "would have" gone...but use it as a food locker now..

But I do have a locker out in the cockpit where gas and oil for the outboard are stored...could be considered a "machinery" locker...

I'll get the placard....

My boat (which i just bought a few months ago) dosent have a Y valve, or a holding tank. My last boat had both. When i asked the previous owner about this boat, he said "dont bother about it, no one checks" but i am a kind of environmental type person, so i want to fit a holding tank, but right now, its set up to just flush over the side, and has been used in the lakes of the midwest, and that is where i will use it. Do the coast guard exist in the lakes, or is it some other organisation. I know when i was in Florida, i saw the coat guard in nearly every marina, in small boats. But i never seen any coastguard in the lakes.

Lake sailing is new to me, when I was in the merchant marine, we had garbage sepparation plans, fuel spill plans, fire plans, on board, ashore records, what do you need to keep on a 26 foot boat. I have coverered most of the safety equipment, but my wife dosent think i should have a flare pistol (she dosent trust me with guns) do you need one for the lakes.

Not trying to hijack the thread and with apologies. Thought I'd answer AtlanticAl. Oklahoma is kind of an odd little world Al...........but as far as that "no one checks" business..........I beg to differ. The GRDA and the OHP Lake Patrol can, will, and do, check. They also issue OK's version of a "safety check sticker", get one and your life is ALOT easier. Send me a PM and ask anything ya need to know
