I am looking at purchasing a 1987 Mark II 30'but I can not find any details about this boat. It has a winged keel but nothing in the specs about the Draft. Request any information about the Mark II and where can I find details that make this different from a regular 30. Thanks Frank

4'10'' draft

I believe the draft of your '87 is the same as my '89, which is 4'10". All '87s are Mark IIs; the Mark II model replaced the original design in '86. The major difference is the layout of the cockpit in a "T" shape for wheel steering. The C30 owners association (link below) has historical info on the model changes. The C30 is a terrific boat, and a great value in the late-80s vintages. Good luck.

'87 draft

I switched keels to a wing and was told that the draft would be 3'10". When I measured it ended up at 4'3". Guess everything I had on the boat made it deeper in the water.

3'10'' is correct

check with the C30 National Assc. web site. they have the orginal Catalina brochures for all models. I always look for 4 ft of water and she always floats. love my C30, I believe you will too.

Mark II mods

Frank, I have C30 #4821, 1987 vintage. The Mark II modifications are Universal 25 3-cylinder engine, t-cockpit, halyards led to the cockpit, flattened traveler, revamped nav station/electrical panel and some aesthetic changes. I found these to be significant for this single-handed sailor to make a point of purchasing a Mark II. Good luck and Fair Winds.
