Does anyone have a good source for mohagony or teak in RI? I cant seem to find a store that carries marine or special lumber.

That is because mahogany and teak are marine grade to start with. Just go looking for the species that you want. Try the water front towns that have lumber yards. I can get spanish cedar from my local saw mill thirty miles inland from the bay.
I'm looking for a good source or sawmill in rhode island where I can walk in and select the pieces I like. I'm not interested in ordering online. I'm specifically looking for some mahogany trim, and I can't seem to find it at any of the lumber yards around here.

You can buy short Teak boards of various thicknesses at "The Ship's Store" upstairs in the consignment room.

It really depends on what you're looking for. I used to buy used Teak in Warren RI years ago for the projects that I was doing on my boat. I think the place was called "The Boat House" but they're long gone.
I've bought Mahogany boards at "Biss Lumber Company" on Somerset Ave. in Taunton (Route 138) . I think they also carry Teak. They're expensive though.
One of my friends is a cabinet maker in Raynham. He has an O'Day 30 that he keeps on a slip at Swansea Marina. He buys all his Teak and Mahogany at a large saw mill in New Hampshire. He claims that they have the best prices around. He buys in large quantities. He prefers working with oak at his shop.
A lot of guys are using PVC Foam Board in boats to build cabinets. This stuff is lighter than Trex and it can be glued with PVC cement and painted. It's a good substitute for plywood. My son gave me a piece of this stuff and I'm using it to build a mast extrusion for my hinged tabernacle plate. I like working with it. It's kind of pricey.
