Does anyone have a picture of the Mast mount and Boom mount of a topping lift for a Mariner? I have the hardware and line but not sure what side of mast or position on boom to mount the hardware.

Topping lift
Years ago, I added a topping lift to a Sanibel 17. I bought a cheek block to mount on the Starboard side of the mast near the top. I ran a line through that, and attached a shackle to the end and attached it to the end of the boom. Then I had the line come down to a cleat. There's a lot of ways to attach them and it all depends on the type of hardware that you're using. The topping lift on my boat is controlled at the Goose Neck on my boom, oddly enough. My topping lift consists of a covered cable similar to what is used on lifelines, and it's attached to the top of the mast. The end that comes down to the boom has a marine eye fitting with a single sheave on it. My control line for this topping lift runs inside my boom to a pulley at the end of the boom, and through the sheave of the topping lift on the mast, and connects at the end of the boom. A small cam cleat at the goose neck is used to adjust the height of the boom. This type of set-up makes reefing a lot simpler because everything is right where you can reach it. You may have to experiment with the sail up, to see where you can attach the sheave near the top of the mast, and cleat. I'd want the cleat somewhere where it will be accessible when raising/lowering the mast. If you could post a picture of the hardware that you have, I'm sure someone out there could offer you some ideas of where to mount it. Joe
