Dear Sailors,

Can anyone in the New England/Mass area recommend a good marine junk yard. I viewed a website for a location in Quincy, Ma and the prices for salvaged marine parts was outrageously expensive!

Thanks,
Mark

Not to be snarky but businesses that charge “outrageous prices” don’t stay in business. The point being that the price reflects the market. Have you tried looking on Craig’s List, eBay, Facebook Marketplace or Offer Up for your parts. You may have better luck there…. You can also post a “wanted” ad on many of those platforms.

I assume you're referring to Mass Marine. I took a quick look at their site. Prices are reasonable. Some better than expected. What is it that you are looking for?

Boat parts in general can be outrageously expensive. Mass Marine is a salvage company. You might find lower prices in a marine consignment shop.

Most of the parts that I looked at did not look all that outrageously priced, except perhaps the Barlow winches which haven't been made in many years, their value may in the limited supply.
