Standard Horizon is a division of...
Vertex (commercial radio gear) and their ham radio division is known as YAESU. I can tell you from personal experience that Yaesu radios are tough little buggers, so if Standard Horizon radios are built to the same level of quality, it would be an excellent choice. My Yaesu is a 2 meter mobile rig that is used in an open cockpit vintage Bronco for SAR work on the Rubicon Trail, and as such it has seen far more than it's fair share of abuse, including being rained on, buried in snow, extreme dust, heat, and all kinds of other things that would have sent most other radios to the scrap heap. After 7 years it is still going strong, so I guess you could say I'm hooked on the brand. Does anybody know if Standard Horizon, Yaesu and Vertex all come-off the same assembly lines?
