Marine Heads

Hi All -

Here is a topic that sailors don't spend a lot of time
discussing...marine heads. Sorry for such an uninteresting question, but
our old Par unit (original, I think) is really tired. We are going
add a little luxury by outfitting our Vega with a new head. No, I do
not want to rebuild it again! I have better things to do on a boat
than worry about the head. Last year a bucket served well! So,
does anyone out there have any opinions or recommendations? Two heads that are under current consideration are:

- Lavac with an electric pump - this is the
one that has the vacuum flushing method.

- Raritan PHII (manual or
electric?)

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Drusie Sheldon

Brian, would you be so thoughtful to check the PB marina when you sail
over this next week end to see if a rsvp is on the books for Mike Swietzer
vessel name Waywise. when I called which was on a Saturday morning
they didn't know about our rendezvous and seemed informal about saving
me a slip (no credit call number). I hope it was just the Saturday
morning person.
thanks

This
is a question that I have been considering as well. I will have to consider a
holding tank or portable toilet in the near future as many of the marine parks
in British Columbia and Washington State do not all discharge within the park. I
am leaning toward a portapotti simply because I can spend my money on items
other than a holding tank system. I viewed Bill Bach's (hi bill) system which is
well thought out and seems easy to install, however I have not made a decision
yet. If anyone has an suggestions re: a portable, please let me know.

And....remember the rendezvous...Port Browing. I will
give more details in a week as my wife and I are sailing to PB over the May
18-22 weekend.

Cheers

Hello
Mike:

I will
definitely check. Originally I reserved 6 spaces on the dock. I was not
requirded to use my credit card for security either. Since I will be leaving on
Friday for PB, perhaps a "show of hands" (i.e. confirm your attendence) for
those definitely coming would be appropriate at this time. I will ensure that
spaces are available.

I was tired of the old toilet and bought a baby blake. This one does not
leak as my old one did.

Unfortunately only the Blake Lavac Zenith was available from
Defender, so I ordered it. We are having to return it and go with the
Raritan PHE II. We did not have room for the pump
assembly....sigh...

However, I received good reviews on the Raritan PHII, and it
fits nicely in our tight compartment.

Thanks to everyone for their comments and advise!
