IMHO....your best options....pump out when you go to the big lake...

On the smaller lake...well, I guess it depends on how often you need to pump out. Does it happen frequently? Or can you make it to the big lake?

If it's pretty rare that you fill the waste tank while on the small lake....a simple change in behavior will get you to the big lake. (pee overboard, poo before ya go out, etc)

If you're filling the tank all the time, and not getting out to the big lake often enough...then the marine head system is not the best waste disposal system for you, your needs and usage. Personally, I would remove the marine head system and install a porta-potti.

Its a better option than what some folks in your situation do....install a macerator and illegally dump in the lake. Although, compared to how much animal waste goes into the water from all the fishes, racoons, squirrels, birds, beavers, etc...and all the waste from rainwater runoff flushing systems clean....dumping a little 6 gallon tank of human poo macerated...would not even be detectable. It's one of those things where one or two folks doing it is no big deal...but when hundreds of boats are doing it...

Get a box of tall kitchen cinch top garbage bags use as head liner fits around bowl under seat.

As for pee
put a few paper towel in the bag first then just go same way as above.
End of day take bag of bags to trash can
or dumpster
Did this for a week at home while sewer line being re done
works just fine not nearly as " distastful" as pumpout ideas.
Is that legal? To put human waste in the trash? Evidently someone did that in our marina in SD and signs went up all over with huge warnings about being kicked out if discovered who was doing it. Seems really wrong to me on many levels.

Pump into a container

I can think of two options:

1. install a macerator pump and then use it to pump into a portable waste container. This container could be a 5 gallon pail, such as are used for paint, with a snap-on plastic lid, and fittings installed in the lid. You would need an "in" fitting and a vent. Both could be pretty common 5'8" garden hose fittings.

In use, open the vent, connect the hose to the macerator pump output and to the container input, and pump. Take the container off and dump it in a toilet. Clean-up of the container and hose might be a bit of a mess.

2. Replace the built-in holding tank with a removable tank, perhaps a bucket as above, and connect it to the waste line with RV-style fittings. A regular hose fitting would work for the vent. You could even leave the lid with fittings connected, and just swap the bucket, having two, so you can rotate them; plus a spare, blank lid.

pumpouts arent as "distasteful" as you would think if the system is set up right. macerating pumps work great as long as you are careful about what goes into the head. there are some things it wont macerate, like diapers, wipes and sanitary napkins..... the whole "YUCH" thing is a part of life and when you live in a confined space for more than a couple hours at a time, and you need to figure out what system works best for you.... once you get it all figured out and know what to expect and how to deal with it, it really isnt that bad. unless you use a shop vac..... can you imagine the smell and the clean up of the vac and hose. where and how would you wash it without creating a bio hazard?... and what if something should go wrong? I know the pump out stations use vacuum to remove the waste, but its a dedicated, sealed and filtered system. and to anyone who feels the need to actually use a shop vac, it would be better served by taking the motor assembly out of the can, lining the can with a bag, and squatting over it..... IMHO

Call the nearest honey bucket company and ask them if they make on demand or routine pick ups in the area.
On the other hand Chris' idea might work anyway as I'd expect there'd be a short learning curve to that skill.

Lots of options. As an uncle of mine use to say; "there's no problem that money can't fix. It is just how much money it takes to fix it."

Then again, if something happens they you will REALLY be up shit's creek without a paddle.

My shop vac will pull a five foot water column. Some may do better. I wouldn't hesitate to pee in the lake but I s*#&t in a bag in a bucket.
Exactly. In my case, it is 72 inches deck to bottom, plus getting it started plus viscous drag. Not nearly enough. I doubt a five foot collum would be functional even on a small boat, when all of these factors are added. It might get some, it might not, it would be slow and prone to plugging. A diaphram pump, on the other hand, can pull closer to 20 feet once it gets a good bite.

I made my own "waste caddy" using a diaphragm pump, an old hand truck, and a 10-gallon jug. A little welding, some 1" dishwasher hose, et voila, independent pumpouts at our dock on the river! Dumping the jug involves a 2" dia 5' hose, threaded onto jug, fed into throat of my toilet at home, and pour away. That part's not nearly as fun as the pumping part.

Even the pumpout stations can get nasty. Last Saturday we were at the 4hr guest dock having lunch when the guy behind us who was pumping his waste tank suddenly jumped in the harbor. When he got out he told us it got him from head to toe. Thank goodness we were done eating.

If you do go with the shop vac idea Costco has a nice one, and they take returns with no questions asked. ;)
