I have a continuing problem of marine growth by the speed paddle thru hull. Because the material isn't bronze or brass (I think it's teflon), marine growth occurs which disrupts flow to the speed paddle. So far, the only way I can get it clean is to hire a diver. He thought that the teflon ring should have been painted with something to prevent the growth, but the boat company in Seattle (CSR) said paint won't adhere to that material. Has anyone else dealt with this problem and found a solution ... like making a contraption out of PVC tubing that might make it possible to reach it over the side, ... or something that can be inserted through the thru-hull from inside the cabin and somehow clean the ring.We have a 2006 Hunter 36. My guess is that Hunter saved some construction money by using a lesser expensive material in this application.
