I have a 16k btu main unit--the part with the compressor. I am buying a seawater pump today. what else do i need besides a thermostat & duct? is the air handler a separate unit? it looks like my unit has the blower thingy built into it. or is the air handler separate? this is getting too expensive!

If you were in Texas you wouldn't care so much about the cost. This heat would make every penny worth it.

Most if not all of the new ones I have seen are all together-compact units. What ever fan is sucking or blowing air through the evap is all you need to push it through the vents.
Are you asking if you need a booster fan, or do you not know if the evap fan is there?

Take a look at the WM or similar catalog - you will find a few similar units. Some are combined condenser and blower; others are separate. You will be able to easily id which you have from the pics in a catalog.
Assuming you have a combined unit, you will need a seawater lit which contains the hoses, connectors, thruhull clamshell and pump, the latter typically being a March pump which is junk. The temp control typically comes with the unit. In addition, you can buy a duct kit which contains the duct work (duh) as well as all the clamps and grates which act as bulkhead vents, the cheap ones being metal or plastic; the expensive ones have teak vents.
Some wiring and you are good to go.

there was a unit previously installed, so i have all the hoses, thru-hull, grates, etc. the boat sank, so it was ruined. I bought a used one in florida and it works, just need the accessories. it has a compressor, the coil stuff, and what appears to be a blower. it looks like any other blower ive seen, round (fan inside?) with a vent coming out the bottom.
Scott, i am kinda living aboard. as much as possible. but it is so darn hot here in charleston, i cant torture my wife too much. we have a nice island condo (courtesy of inlaws) that we havent even been to in 2 weeks. so, we have mostly stayed on board, but the inlaws have a fat beach house and they are out of town for 3 months!!! so we are chillin in the A/C for the past 2 days. inlaws got $$$, i married up! my wife is a little foofoo, so i dont want to pressure her too much, its been a big step. i dont want her to start hating it--her mom already calls it a floating trailer.
oh, the pump i bought is a march. it is identical to the one that was previously installed.

You definitely have a different situation going on than I have. I can't say i would want to live on a boat and not be going any where IF I had a nice condo to be in.
If I had enough wealth, I would buy a house on the water where I could have my own private dock. I want to live aboard and travel around but I know I don't want to do only that for the rest of my life. Some guys on here have the perfect real estate/boat situation. Charleston would be on my list of places to live. I have only read about it though in books by Robert Jordan.

Yeah, Charleston rocks. I have moved around a lot, and never planned on being here 5 years. Im kinda of a wanderer. I cant leave Charleston though! it is the best place i have ever lived. I lived ON the Chesapeake Bay before I came here, and i had no problem leaving. Except for the heat, I cant think of a nicer place. Its a different kind of town.
