That'll make it harder to keep clean and odor free, Brian
The best sump/drain cleaner on the planet (ok...maybe a small exaggeration) is Raritan C.P. It's marketed only as toilet bowl cleaner, but is a bio-enzymatic cleaner than not only destroys odor on contact, but also "eats" hair, soap scum, grease and oils, etc, and the slime in a/c condensate. A healthy squirt down the shower drain when it has time to stand at least overnight is all that's needed to keep sumps clean and sweet smelling. However, without a little water in the sump, that "healthy squirt" becomes just a small puddle...it NEEDS a 1/2" or so of water in the sump to cover whole bottom and get into the sump pump. If you reroute the drain so that the sump drains out the bottom, whatever is left (think "bathtub ring" and whatever else is left clinging to bathtub walls when all the water has been drained)--will only sit and grow and nasty smelly critters that prefer a damp environment to one that's under water.
