Marine A/C for 9.2c?

Are there any S2 9.2c owners that have marine A/C intalled?

If so could you please share some information on it's installation?

I have looked through my boat and can't fugure out where I could put an A/C unit. The spaces under the port and starboard mid ship seating areas don't look big enough to accomidate such a unit and the space under the aft cabin bed is already taken up with a refrigeration compressor.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have not looked at any particular unit. I did some web research and joted down dimensional specs for some 8000 and 10000 BTU systems. Looking at what I had avaialble for space on the boat has made me ask the question of some other S2 9.2c owners where they may have located such a system on their boat. Do you have marine A/C on board your boat. If so would you care to share some knowledge of your install? Ideas on what has worked for others would be much appreciated.

take a look at split systems that may solve your problem......air handler in a locker some where and the compressor unit located some where else joined by a line set

If you're on a budget like most of us are these days, then consider doing what I did. I bought an 8,000 btu stand up unit & just bungee corded it to the side of the companionway steps. It is close to where it will need to be vented via the exhaust hose, & it requires no condensation drain line as the hose evaporates the condensation moisture during operation. It will work off standard 10 Amp, 110 volt outlet, has a built in GFCI protection on the plug end, & it can be removed at the end of the summer when U don't need it. It can also be removed for serious sailing or racing. Plus the unit actually works well for cooling the cabin. I've had cruise air hatch mounted units that were expensive & didn't work worth a damn. The stand up models cost around $400. bucks. My 2 cents.

I did it in our 9.2C. Put the unit in aft cabin closet ran 4" pvc along head ceiling exited top corner of head wall shooting to the v berth (covered the pipe in headliner material sourced from sailrite) also one outlet in aft cabin. 12,000 btu webasto fcf system. we have since sold the boat

AC Location for 9.2C

Re: Location for AC on 9.2 C. I owned one for many yeara and cruised it to the Bahamas and Caribbean. I located my AC beneath the companion way steps in custom built cabinet. A nice location as I was able to duct air throug then engine compt to the aft cabin and into the main saloon. It was 12K BTU that worked well. I also installed another for a customer in the engine compartment aft. I built a shelft just above the transmission that spanned the compartment. I had to relocate a lot of stuff but we got it in. Then we ducted air fore/aft. That installation was not as practical. We had to build a plenum so we could pull return air from the cabins vice the engine compartment. Second, the customer insisted on using a unit (low end) that is known to be noisy and complained excessively about the noise in the aft cabin. Newer units are much quiter and I think you could get away with that now if you used a Webasto AC or equivalent that's known to be very quiet. I've installed Webasto units under berths without a complaint. There may be better units but none quieter that I've found.
