Hi! After 2 years with a Vangaurd Zuma, I picked up a Cape Cod Mercury last week. (go ahead, get it out of your system, make fun of my Merc, LOL) My knees can't crawl around like they used to, and I wanted to be a bit drier, It's in awesome shape, AND it was pretty much being given away. Anyway, I live in westen MA. (a little east of Springfield) but kayak and fish a lot on Narragansett Bay in RI. I want to sail on the bay, but don't want to haul the boat everytime.
Do marinas do "rigged trailer storage"? Leaving the boat mast up on a trailer? (stepping this thing is a breeze, but 1 less thing to do would be nice)
I've been doing a lot of "googling", but have only seen slip and mooring rates, that's why I'm throwing it out to the vast knowledge base here.

Around here in the NE it is may exist but is more common at yacht clubs

Can't speak for the Connecticut river, but up here there are marinas that allow 'dry sailing'. I kept my A23 on a trailer in a small marina, rigged and ready, but security was non-existant, so I was taking the OB off when I left the boat. When I switched to a slip, I left it on, and found that I cut the time at each end of a sail by a lot. Mounting and demounting the engine, and sometimes waiting for the launch ramp (it was part of a public park of some sort), can take a lot of time and effort, but obviously a quieter marina with better security would have made a big difference.

They also call it "mast up" storage.... The boat is left on the trailer or cradle with the mast rigged, in some cases the rental fee includes a crane service to launch instead of using the ramp. (Dana Point comes to mind, but it's been awhile since I checked in there)

From the other replies, it sounds as usual, that things are different all over. But around here they are "common". Years ago on one of my C22's when I had a dedicated crew, tough crew albeit, we'd sling the mast up and sail within minutes. Fast forward some to now, a little, (lot), older, 5'2" 110 lb. Italian woman, no joy. So we did just that, left it rigged on the trailer. Launching sucked. And my wife despises a power boat on a whole other level, which dominated the ramps.
We bought a slip.
So THEN, after consideration, the trailer boat was a moot point.
So I bought a bigger boat.
(Starting to sound like a wierd comercial, huh)?

So you can see where the madness "ended".

And it ain't over yet.

Chris, I hope to follow the same progression. I just e-mailed a Brewer marina near Providence asking them what a guy with a boat this size had for options.
