Monty, Most boats store at Marina SECA in San Carlos,,Sonora

Which stores about 600 Boats almost 1 mile inland from Marina San Carlos. The boats are actually haulled at Marina San Carlos and Trailed to Marina SECA. The same family owns both marinas and the two married daughters each run one of the facilities. San Carlos is about 20 kilometers west of Guaymus, and the Mexican charts give good outlines of land masses but can be off by as much as 3 miles. Pinniped's GPS Waypoint list in the back of Charlies Chart's gives PUNTA DOBLE, the West point of land for the enterance to San Carlos Bay as 27 55.430 N 111 03.550 W, and the Bahia San Carlos Reef Marker at 27 55.980 N 111 03 .350 W. You would want to stay to the East of that Marker. It also gives 27 56.780 N 111 03.760 W for the San Carlos Anchorage and 27 56.940 N 111 05,870 W for the San Carlos Marina entrance. There is a Marina Real in San Carlos and it is a way out of town to the West. On the West Shore, West of the Tetas De Cobra Mountain, and off the SE corner of Bahia Algodones. It is a marina with a dry storage area just outside the entrance gate but there are no resturantes or stores around there. You will need transportation if you stay there, but it is a decent marina, though I liked San Carlos Better. Punta San Antonio, which you will sail to the west of, to get into Bahia Algodones is at 27 56.030 N 111 06.560 W and the anchorage at Bahia Algodones is 27 56.760 N 111 05.550 W (Just off Marina Real) These are the GPS Coordinates you might want to use to enter into your instruments, but they won't plot worth a damn on your charts because all the charts (US C&GS included) are based on old Mexican charts that won't agree with any Datum Used by anybody. There is a Marina w/haulout/ storage in Guaymus where some oversize boats go but it is not clean and normally not recommended unless you have to go there. Guaymus has been a dirty harbor with a lot of commercial fishing boats. They have a new harbor redevelopment project going on there so it will be getting better. Good Luck Joe S
